The ECCE Scheme:

The ECCE Scheme often refered to in the media has the "free pre-school year"

  • The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Scheme provides a free year of pre-school.
  • The scheme covers 3 hours preschool education, 5 days per week over the specified 38 week period. (183 days)
  • The State pays a capitation fee to participating preschools and daycare services. In return, they provide a pre-school service free of charge to all children within the qualifying age range for a set number of hours over a set period of weeks.

Here at ABC Childcare we offer the ECCE Scheme in two ways:

1:

For children who attend full time or part time childcare in ABC Childcare, the ECCE capitation is subtracted from the monthly charge .
The reduction is clearly identifiable on all invoices issued from ABC Childcare.

2:

The ECCE Scheme is offered on a sessional basis:
  • This is 3 hours per day, five days per week for the 38 weeks of the year. This service is free of charge.
