Programme Your peace of mind: ABC Childcare is fully compliant with all Health Board regulations and The Child Care Act of 1991 and 2006. This includes providing correct staff to child ratios for all age groups.
We are members of the many childcare organisations, including the NCNA (the National Nursery association of Ireland). We operate an open door policy of inspection from the Health Board, government bodies, and heath and safety.
But most importantly, we operate an open door policy for parents who can come experience and discover the meaning of childcare in Ireland.
We would be delighted to show you around our purpose built facility. It has been designed in conjunction with various childcare groups, advisory bodies, and we have undertaken research from parent groups to ensure that the centre meets the needs of busy parents & their children.

Your Childs Development: Our Programme;
At each stage of your child’s development we provide a great deal of individual attention, so that we can adapt activities to your child’s individual needs.
Our programme provides a range of activities, quiet time, free play, dress up, & story time.
Babies ( 3 months to 1 year); All babies are cared for in their own specially designed & equipped room.
A very high ratio of carers to babies is maintained at all times, enabling us to provide the personal level of attention that each infant requires at this important stage. Prior to your baby starting in our centre, you will meet the leader of your child’s room.
They then will discuss your baby’s individual needs and care programme. A continuation of the routine that you and your baby have become accustomed to at home is desirable, and then you can discuss any concerns or special needs that you might have.
You will be consulted prior to any changes to your baby’s progress and development is to be made. Any changes on your baby’s diet should be advised and talked through with the Leader. Daily records are kept of the time that your baby is with us, which you have access to at all times.
Wobblers (1 to 2 years); Following a discussion with you the Parent, the child will move into the Wobbler Room. In here the child becomes more independent, so we adapt the programme to suit this age group.
Here the “world is their oyster”, they discover paint, sand, water, and other fun activities. Their routine becomes a little more structured with little nap times if needed.
In ABC Childcare we recognise children at this age need lots of time for exploring and experimenting but still need lots of cuddles, hugs and special “wobbler time”.
Toddlers (2 years to 3 years); When children reach this room, they are offered a slightly different/structured environment where play and routines are still fun but also cater for their emerging interests and talents. At this stage there are lots of different things happening new friends are made while others may be temporarily discarded (for a while anyway).
There will be lots of ‘tales and tears to tell’, but all will under the watchful eyes of our qualified and experienced staff. Our staff will constantly encourage language development, sentences, toilet training and good behaviour.
During this time it is so important that we work together in toilet training your child, by following a similar routine at home and in the nursery. Our toilets are specifically designed to help with this. There is also direct access from this room to the wonderful outdoor play area.
Pre Schoolers (3 to 5years); Preschoolers start at 3 years (approx). Our trained Montessori teacher develops each child’s reading, writing and numeracy. A copy of the programme is available to all parents.
We have a two year programme in place, and we incorporate free play, dress up, sand, water, story time, fun and Games in the activities too .Our Montessori room is just a stepping stone from ABC Douglas to Primary School.
We look at the overall development of the child, and encourage them to learn new skills, Personal and Social development, Sensory, Cultural, Language, music, and Arithmetic. We aim to provide each child with the “overall development” thus ensuring that they are ready for school and do so in a happy and confident manner.
Wise Owl's Afterschool (5 years to 12 years); Your child is collected from school and a specific programme is available to the child. This enables your child to relax and unwind after a busy day in school.
Time will be allotted for homework, but play is equally important. A comfortable area is available & nutritious dinner is provided.
